From Your First Step to Advanced Dancing

Tango Del Barrio is Cincinnati’s non-profit home for Argentine tango – offering classes, workshops, practicas, milongas, and social dancing for every level—from absolute beginners to experienced dancers.

If you have never danced tango before, Tango Del Barrio is an ideal place to begin. Our structured beginner curriculum introduces Argentine tango in a welcoming environment where no previous dance experience is necessary and you do not need to bring a partner. Students learn the fundamentals of connection, musicality, movement, and social dance while becoming part of Cincinnati’s vibrant tango community.

Tango Del Barrio also offers a progressive curriculum for beginner, intermediate, and advanced dancers, giving students a place to continually develop. Regular classes, practicas, workshops, milongas, and special events provide opportunities to learn, practice, and dance.

Tango Del Barrio regularly brings internationally recognized Argentine tango dancers and instructors to Cincinnati for workshops, performances, and intensive learning opportunities. These visiting professionals give our students and the broader regional tango community access to exceptional instruction without having to travel to major tango festivals or cities around the world. Combined with our ongoing local curriculum, these events allow more experienced dancers to challenge themselves while giving developing dancers a path toward higher-level tango.

A Tango Community and a Vibrant Part of the Cincinnati Community

We believe the best tango communities don’t simply create new dancers. They create dancers who eventually welcome, encourage, and inspire the next generation.

A dancer might first walk through our doors having never taken a tango step. Over time, that same person can progress through our curriculum, attend workshops with some of the world’s leading tango professionals, become a confident social dancer, travel to tango communities around the country and abroad, and eventually find themselves helping a brand-new dancer feel comfortable at their first practica or milonga. That cycle is at the heart of Tango Del Barrio.

Outreach is an integral part of our mission and we have spread the joy of Argentine tango and music by collaborating with The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO Proof: Tango Lab), The Gardner Center for Parkinsons & Movement Disorders, Su Casa, the MariElders, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and many others.
